In the world of stand up paddle boarding, there is a common breakage that affects many boards of all makes and sizes - the cracked fin box!

It Just Cracked

We know that sometimes we make mistakes and have a lapse in judgement/concentration and this can lead to mishaps - maybe you were happy paddling and didn't realise the depth of the water or maybe someone who doesn't know about paddling used your board - whatever the reasons, stuff happens. 

There is one guarantee, and we mean 100%, without question, unequivocally, not ever gonna happen, not on your Nelly - the fin box just cracking without cause. 

There is always something that causes it and 99.9% of the time, it's impact either under the water of weight applied when on dry land.

The Prevention

When you're on the water, make sure you get on/off your board in water that is at least knee deep. This means that you're assured that the fin cannot hit the bottom and saves the cost of a new fin box. 

The Cure
